The 'Big Assembly' comes to Nottingham Academy

During National Apprenticeship Week and on International Women's day, 'The Big Assembly' hosted by Nottingham Academy will attempt to break last year's record of 10,000 people being online at the same time for careers advice and guidance.

This year 'The Big Assembly' will focus on diversity and social mobility. Schools, young people, parents, careers advisors and employers from across the nation are invited at 10.30, on 8 March 2018 to take part in 'The Big Assembly', a live video stream from Nottingham Academy (Greenwood Campus) which will be streamed to thousands across the UK wanting to find out more about apprenticeships and career options post 16.

The East Midlands Apprenticeship Ambassador Network, Workpays and GetMyFirstJob have created this ground-breaking event, with support from The National Apprenticeship Service and a range of employers committed to Apprenticeships, including degree Apprenticeships.

Employers and apprentices will be sharing their experiences by combining commissioned films by apprentices with a live Q&A with experts. The audience will be made up of pupils from Year 10 and Sixth Form students at Nottingham Academy.

Mrs Nicky Brown, Assistant Principal and Careers and Employability Lead at Nottingham Academy said “we are thrilled that Nottingham Academy is hosting this event, we pride ourselves on providing a broad range of careers support and have been very proud to see many of our previous pupils move into some fantastic apprenticeships. The Big Assembly will be a unique opportunity for our pupils to ask questions about apprenticeships with some of the UKs biggest employers. We certainly hope to help break the record of 10,000 viewers and will be streaming the assembly across both Nottingham Academy Ransom Road and Greenwood Campuses.
