Key Stage 4
Pupils are encouraged to study languages into Key Stage 4 and it is a compulsory option for our more able pupils who have the choice between Spanish and French (or both) where appropriate.
The course is built around topics that are more relevant to teenagers or provide thought provoking discussion. Whilst learning the language, we encourage pupils to explore elements of the culture and lifestyles of native speaking counties.
We follow the AQA syllabus for GCSEs in each language. Pupils complete Controlled Assessments (two speaking and two writing) during the course. Each assessment is worth 15% of the final GCSE marks. Pupils take a listening and reading exam at the end of the course, each worth 20% of the final marks.
