PE

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

 Introduction

At Nottingham Academy, our aim is to inspire all students to enjoy being physically active and develop this enthusiasm outside of school and throughout their lives. Our balanced PE programme has been carefully created to help develop students physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively. Irrespective of ability or circumstance, we create opportunities for all pupils to try sports which can allow them to experience the achievement and excitement associated with a wide range of sports and activities. The Academy believes that competition at all levels is exhilarating and offers the chance for pupils to challenge themselves against others at Nottingham Academy, as well as like-minded people from other organisations up and down the country.

The PE department is an exceptionally skilled and passionate team, who are dedicated in delivering high quality Core and Theory PE at KS3, 4 and 5. Each year we host a whole-school, house based, Winter and Summer games tournament, where students are able to celebrate the intrinsic and extrinsic rewards of PE. Nottingham Academy pupil’s practical and theoretical achievements are proudly displayed within classrooms and corridors. These are viewed and utilised as invaluable sources of inspiration for staffs, students and parents/carers to continue to aim high.
