Consent to Autumn Term Covid Testing
The Department for Education has recently updated its guidance with regard to arrangements for September 2021 and the start of the new academic year. Please read on for more detail and to provide consent to testing.
As students will potentially mix with lots of other people during the summer holidays, guidance states that all secondary school students should receive 2 on-site lateral flow device tests, 3 to 5 days apart, on their return in the Autumn term. This will mirror the process we successfully implemented in March 2021. Some important points to note:
- If you have already given prior consent for LFD testing (your child participates in the home testing process) then you do not need to provide consent again.
- Students over the age of 16 at the time of this testing can give their own consent
- If you have not given consent, but you wish to opt your child into the process for September, please use this link: Lateral Flow Consent Form this will provide all the information needed.
- The expectation of home testing twice a week will continue through September 2021 for staff and students.
The Academy will continue to supply home tests. This will be reviewed by the Department for Education before the end of September.
In order to facilitate the testing of students, we will be staggering the return to school for different year groups. This will take place across three days: Wednesday 1st September – Friday 3rd September. By Monday 6th September, all students in all year groups will be in timetabled lessons. Parents have been sent details of when testing is for their child and when they return to their timetable.
