End of Term Arrangements

A parent/carer update for the arrangements at the end of the Autumn term. The academy term finishes on Friday 18th December.

11 December 2020

Dear Parents / Carers,

Re: End of Term Arrangements

You may have heard the announcement made on Tuesday by the Department for Education regarding an optional INSET (Training) Day for schools on 18 December.

The Department for Education has provided this guidance to avoid the need for school staff to be contactable for the first six days after the academy closes, to then inform any families needing to self-isolate. By offering schools an INSET Day on Friday 18th December, they would not need to be contacted for this reason on Christmas Eve.

We do not feel this is a sufficient reason to close the academy and we will remain open on Friday 18th December and finish as planned with an own clothes day and celebration for our students on the last day of term.

As an academy we feel that asking students to work remotely on Friday 18th December places an unnecessary burden on parents/carers and families due to the short notice and the need to arrange childcare for younger children. We also feel that the need for partial closure in past weeks as well as many students being asked to self-isolate since September, that a significant amount of education and time with their peers and teachers has been lost already.

Arrangements for Communicating Positive Tests after Friday 18th December

If your child receives a positive test between Saturday 19th December and Thursday 24th December, please contact the academy via Similarly, if your child or a member of your household is tested positive prior to returning on Monday 4th January 2021 please contact the email address above.

We appreciate your ongoing support under these, most challenging of circumstances.

Yours sincerely

Mr Harry French
