Nottingham Academy Proposed De-merger Update

An update from Greenwood Academies Trust on the proposal to demerge Nottingham Academy

Dear Parent/Carer

Nottingham Academy proposed de-merger update

I write to inform you that the Regional Schools Commissioner (RSC) has approved the Trust’s proposal to de-merge the Nottingham Academy into two separate academies from September 2020.

This means that after reviewing the consultation responses, the Trust Board have agreed that the Greenwood Campus (including the primary) will remain as the Nottingham Academy and the Ransom Road campus will open as a new academy, with a new name from September 2020.

To ensure a successful transition the de-merger will be completed in three stages:

  1. Mr Marcus Shepherd will take up his post as Principal at the Ransom Road Campus with effect from Tuesday 23 April 2019. As a result of Mr Shepherd taking up his new post, Mr Hashim will return to his substantive post at Greenwood Campus and Mrs Quinton will return to Ransom Road Campus.
  2. From September 2019 until September 2020 Ransom Road will remain part of Nottingham Academy but will operate as a stand-alone campus under Mr Shepherd’s leadership.  This will allow additional consultation with parents/carers around admissions and further support the transition into the future model for both the existing Nottingham Academy and the new Academy on the site of Ransom Road.  This is phase two.
  3. From September 2020, the new stand-alone academy will open on the site of Ransom Road and the smaller 3-19 Nottingham Academy will continue on Greenwood Campus. This concludes the third and final phase of the demerger process.

We are excited about the prospect of the changes at the Nottingham Academy and are keen to deliver as much of the new vision as we can for September 2019.
