Nottingham Secondary Academy

Ofsted

Nottingham Academy has been recognised by Ofsted for its welcoming and inclusive learning environment which supports pupils’ aspirations.

Inspectors who visited the Academy found that “pupils’ personal development is strong throughout the school” and that pupils appreciate and “benefit from many enriching experiences” including trips to the coastline and theatre, as well as a range of sporting activities and charity work.

Emphasising the “inclusive ethos” of the Academy, the report highlighted the positive example set by the leadership team and teachers, stating leaders plan to include all pupils and that “pupils feed off their teachers’ enthusiasm”. This inclusive culture has had ripple effects across the Academy with levels of attendance improving overall and pupils in alternative provision properly supported to help prepare them for the future.

To further drive improvements, the Academy, sponsored by Greenwood Academies Trust, is working hard with the support of the Trust to implement new action plans that will continue this positive trajectory.
