📚 Why Attendance Matters at Nottingham Academy

At Nottingham Academy, we believe that every school day counts. Good attendance is more than just a number—it’s the foundation for success, confidence, and a bright future.

According to our school’s attendance guide, being in school at least 97% of the time—that’s 184 to 190 days a year—is considered excellent. Students who maintain this level of attendance are more likely to achieve their full potential, stay on top of their studies, and build strong friendships.

But what happens when attendance drops?

  • 95% attendance (10 days absent): “I’m concerned”
  • 90% attendance (19 days absent): A noticeable impact on learning
  • 85% attendance (29 days absent): “I’m seriously worried”
  • 80% attendance (47 days absent): Significant loss of learning time

The message is clear: every day missed is a missed opportunity.

🧠 Did You Know?

When pupils attend school regularly, they:

  • Achieve their full potential
  • Improve career prospects
  • Learn how to stay healthy and safe
  • Grow in confidence
  • Keep up with work and homework
  • Make new friends

With 175 days in the year not spent at school, there’s plenty of time for holidays, shopping, and appointments. Let’s make the most of the 190 school days by showing up, staying engaged, and striving for excellence.

At Nottingham Academy, we stand by our values: RESPECT | ASPIRATION | PRIDE

Let’s work together to make every day count.
